    Blair E. Caboot Memorial Scholarship

    Northeastern Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics are offering this $1000 scholarship. The application window is open from September 1, 2024 to March 1, 2025. 

    Requirements include the application, transcript and recommendation letter from one of the student's mathematics teachers.

    Wayne Conservation Perry/Westgate Memorial Scholarship

    Amount of Scholarship $1000.00

    Contest is open to any student entering a 2 or 4 year college under an agricultural, conservation, or environmentally oriented college curriculum.  If there are any questions regarding the curriculum you plan to study, contact the office.  Some examples would be Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering, Aquatic Biology, Soil Sciences, Parks and Recreation, Forest Sciences, Agronomy, Wildlife Biology, etc.

    The last day to submit applications is Friday April 4, 2025.

    Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship

    Applicants must be applying for fall admission to an accredited
    nursing program and be notified of their acceptance prior to high school graduation. The
    scholarship money is a one time payment to the student and/or their college/university where
    the recipient is enrolled. Amount still to be determined.
    Required items:
    ● Copy of completed application
    ● Copy of official high school transcript
    ● Three letters of recommendation
    ● A 1-2 page essay describing the reason for pursuing a career in nursing and the reason
    for applying for scholarship. Two page max
    ● Copy of letter of acceptance to an accredited nursing program
    ● Wallet sized photo of applicant and signed photo release

    Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau Scholarship

    The Wayne/Pike County Farm Bureau offers the "Agriculture, The Heart of a Growing Wayne/Pike County Scholarship" to deserving high school seniors as a way to heighten a long term interest in agriculture and its varied positive impacts in our area. 

    The local Farm Bureau also hopes to promote student consideration of the growing field of agricultural career opportunities such as: Food Science & Processing, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Wildlife Conservation, Botany, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Renewable Energy, Mechanics, Landscaping, Ag Education, Ag Communications, Animal Science, Horticulture and Agronomy. 

    Applications are due by February 24, 2025.

    Piper Scholarships

    The Roy W. Piper Charitable Trust, Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, announces the availability of annually renewable scholarships, beginning for academic year 2025-2026. Fully completed applications will be accepted from high school seniors or those students already attending an accredited higher education institution. Principal preference will be given, but not limited to, to Wyoming, Lackawanna, and Luzerne County students. Scholarships are awarded based upon a combination of financial need, academic merit and community service and extra-curricular activities, and are for use of education at an accredited higher education institution.

    There are three available scholarships. They include:

    Career Scholarship

    Military Scholarship

    All Scholarships are due by March 15, 2025


    William & Debrah Pettigrew Scholarship

    Bill Pettigrew will provide a donation of $10,000 to be utilized for an annual $1,000 scholarship for a graduating high school student who wishes to attend college to become a teacher. Both Bill and his late wife Debrah, worked over 50 years in public education. Debrah was a speech and language instructor, and Bill was a long-time superintendent of schools and an original, and founding father member of the PARSS board

    The criteria for submissions are as follows:

    • Student must have a cumulative high school 2.5 GPA or better
    • Submission of a merit essay describing academic and professional goals including why those goals were chosen and what has been done thus far to prepare for postsecondary education (300-900 words; 2-4 pages)
    • Express a clear intent to pursue a career in teaching.
    • Student must be accepted for enrollment to a four-year institution for teacher preparation

    The chosen essay will be presented to the individual with a check and certificate during the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools Conference at the Wyndham Hotel in Boalsburg, Pa., May 1, 2025 at 6:00PM.

    Scranton Community Foundations Scholarships

    The Scranton Area Community Foundation’s Scholarship Portal is now live and accepting applications for over 50 scholarship opportunities! The portal will remain open until midnight on Saturday, March 1st, 2025. Students can learn more and access the portal at https://safdn.org/scholarship-application/.
     

    Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #63 Scholarship

     

    The Fraternal Order of Police, Northeast Lodge # 63 is proud to continue the tradition of awarding its $500.00 annual Scholarships to two eligible high school seniors who wish to pursue a career in the criminal justice field. This Scholarship is open to any eligible high school senior who intends to pursue a career in Law Enforcement, either by majoring in criminal justice in college or entering the Act 120 municipal police academy.

     F.O.P. Lodge #63 encompasses five counties in the Northeast corner of Pennsylvania. They are Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Pike and Wayne Counties. Any high school senior within the F.O.P. Lodge # 63 coverage area is eligible.


    Vern Moyer Aviation Scholarship

    The Vern Moyer Aviation Scholarship is available to individuals who demonstrate a passion and commitment to pursuing a career in aviation, whether as a pilot or a mechanic.

    Wayne County Fair Scholarship

     The guidelines for this scholarship are as follows:

    1. Be a High School Graduate
    2. Copy of college acceptance letter.
    3. Submit 2 Letters of Recommendation (non-family)
    4. Participated at the Wayne County Fair, worked, volunteered, exhibited, etc…within the last three out of four years.
    5. 2 Essay Questions

    DAR Scholarship

    The Susquehanna County Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has established a $1,000 scholarship for a Susquehanna County senior who plans to further his or her education after high school graduation. The scholarship is a yearly gift made possible through the generosity of Susquehanna County Chapter members, and is based on character, academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and an essay.

     

    STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. Complete ALL SECTIONS OF THE ATTACHED APPLICATION.
    2. Provide a copy of your high school transcript.  Include class rank and class size.
    3. Include two letters from people in authority who can attest to your character, integrity, ability, work habits, and potential. Specific examples would be appreciated. Letters cannot be from family members. Include the person’s relationship to you and their phone number. College entry form letters are not acceptable.
    4. Enclose a copy of your birth certificate, naturalization papers, or passport information. All documents will be shredded immediately after review.

    STUDENTS:  Please submit the completed application and essay to your SCHOOL COUNSELOR by April 1, 2025.


    Mike Munchak Community Service Scholarship

    Human Resources Foundation Scholarship

    The Human Resources Foundation Scholarship is open to students who reside in Susquehanna and Wayne Counties. Applicants must be pursuing a career in Human Services, Health Care, social Work or Special Education as well as Vo-Tech careers in Construction, HVAC or Electrical Technology. 


    GDS Fair Scholarship

    The purpose of the CDS Community Fair Association Scholarship is to provide an incentive to future generations to actively participate in community volunteer activities. Financial need status will not be a requirement of this scholarship. Please see the application and instructions in the Resource files. 


    Mark Graziadio Scholarship

    The Mark Graziadio Scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Mark Graziadio. Please see the link in the Resource file. 


    Metzger Wickersham "Road to Safety" Scholarship

     

    Metzger Wickersham Opens 2025 ‘Road To Safety’ Scholarship Contest
    Submissions Welcome for More Than $2,200 in Scholarship Prizes

    (January 29, 2025, Harrisburg, PA) – Metzger Wickersham, one of Pennsylvania’s oldest personal injury law firms, announced today it is accepting submissions for its Road to Safety Scholarship Contest. The annual competition invites Pennsylvania high school seniors to submit creative projects that remind drivers of the dangers of driving under the influence or while distracted.

    The firm welcomes students to apply their creativity to posters, billboard designs, paintings or drawings, digital designs, videos, songs, or other projects that encourage their peers to drive safely. The submissions may be made through the contest website, www.ArriveAlivePA.com. The submission deadline is April 15.

    Firm officials will review all entries and award a $1,000 scholarship to the first-place winner, $750 to the second-place winner, and $500 to the third-place winner.

    The Edrene Wright Scholarship

    ELIGIBILITY

    To be eligible for the Edrene Wright Scholarship, sponsored  by the  Margery  Scranton Council of Republican Women  the  applicant must:

    1. Be a female high school senior residing in Lackawanna County
    2. Be attending a college next year
    3. Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
    4. Be interested in government affairs or politics
    5. If 18, be a registered Republican (enclose a copy of your voter registration card)
    6. If not yet 18, one of candidate's parents or legal guardian must be a registered Republican (enclose a copy of their registration card).

    The Endless Mountains Historical Scholarship

    Eligibility:
    1. Students must be pursuing a degree or certificate at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e. Junior College, Community College, Technical College, College, University, or Trade School)
    2. Students must be involved in school and/or community activities. (i.e. FFA, 4-H, Ecology Club, Scouting, Science Club, Student Council, Leo Club, Leadership Council, etc.) 3. Students must submit a 700 - 1000 word essay responding to ONE of the three prompts listed on page two. Your essay should use Times New Roman, 12pt font, and be double spaced. Your essay must include verifiable citations. The citations may be in your preferred format.
    4. A letter of recommendation must be attached to the application from a teacher, mentor or other community leader.
    5. Applications must be submitted to the EMPO President Alan Superko Jr. at 241 Doolittle Hill Rd, Laceyville, PA 18623 - postmarked or emailed using subject heading ‘EMPO Scholarship Application 2025’ to empousinfo@gmail.com no later than April 1, 2025.


    The Erin Jessica Moreken Scholarship

    This $1000 scholarship was established by the Erin Jessica Moreken Drug & Alcohol Treatment Fund, Inc. in 2014.  It was created to assist a graduating senior who has a financial need and is scheduled to graduate in June of the current school year.   Criteria for eligibility has been determined as follows:

    1. Candidate must be a High School Senior from a local high school.
    2. Candidate must have all requirements necessary to graduate in June, 2025.
    3. Candidate and/or immediate family member have or have had drug/alcohol issues (also known as Substance Use Disorder), and the candidate has succeeded despite this dysfunction within the family.  Candidates who themselves are in recovery must have at least one year sobriety, have a sponsor, and be a member of a support program.
    4. Candidate must have been accepted into a post high school program, with plans to further his/her education/career before funds are disbursed.  College acceptance letter must accompany application.
    5. Scholarship may be awarded anonymously if requested by recipient.

    The Dave Weaver Scholarship & PBA Scholarship

    We are offering TWO scholarships this year for graduating senior(s) from high school whose parent(s) work in the flagstone, fieldstone, and/or bluestone industry. For those wishing to apply for this scholarship they must meet the following criteria:

    1. Any parent(s) owning, working for or working in a flagstone, fieldstone, or bluestone quarry, processing plant, or distribution yard, including office personnel and truck drivers, with a graduating son(s) or daughter(s) who continue their education immediately after high school.
    2. Regardless of your grade point average you can apply.
    3. There is no preference with regard to the institution that the applicant plans on attending after graduation, meaning it can be to a tech school, beauty school, trade school, college or university.
    4. Applicants do not have to be members of the Pennsylvania Bluestone Association to apply for the scholarship, but it will affect your overall score.

    The Order of the Eastern Star Education Scholarship

    Laurel Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, awards four $500 scholarships to high school seniors in the local communities who exemplify good citizenship and high moral character; one to a student at Canaan Christian, Forest City, Wayne Highlands, and Western Wayne.

    SELECTION GUIDELINES

    The recipients are selected by Laurel Chapter Scholarship Committee.  The following guidelines are used in the selection of recipients:

    1. Each Eastern Star Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who exemplifies good citizenship and high moral character.
    2. While scholastic standing and parental finances may be considered, neither are the sole criteria in the selection of a recipient.
    3. It is not the intent of Laurel Chapter that these scholarships be awarded exclusively or primarily to relatives of Eastern Star members or to members of Masonic youth organizations (Rainbow for Girls, DeMolay, Job’s Daughters).  These scholarships are available to all youth in the community.
    4. The high school may, at its discretion, encourage qualifying students to submit an application.

    The Forest City Rotary  Scholarship

    The goal of this local scholarship: The graduating senior should have demonstrated ambition and self-drive as evidenced by community service or work-related activities. The student will have excelled in volunteering/service with the goal of helping others.

    Three scholarships will be awarded: one scholarship winner will be chosen from Forest City Regional.

    Requirements:

    1. Fill out the information on the back of this sheet.
    2. The student should be in good academic standing and provide official high school transcript.
    3. One letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or community leader.
    4. Letter of acceptance from attending college
    5. The winner will provide proof of commitment to college (e.g. deposit info)
    6. Write an essay (500 words maximum) describing their community service, why they chose the project/service, and how the community service has impacted others and their own lives.
    1. Applications must be handed in to the guidance office by deadline: Friday, May 16, 2025.

    The Gretchen Hayes Memorial Scholarship

    The Gretchen Hayes Memorial Scholarship Fund will be offering a scholarship in remembrance of Mrs. Hayes to a graduating senior of Forest City Regional High School.  The scholarship will be awarded yearly to a student who approaches life with optimism, a love of learning, and a desire to make the world a better place; all qualities Mrs. Hayes shared with the students of Forest City Regional during her time here and with students around the country during her over 40 years in education.

    Completed applications along with letters of recommendation, transcript, acceptance letter, and your essay should be emailed to Mr. Zack (mzack@fcrsd.org) by Friday, May 9, 2025.


    The Thomas J. Butler Memorial Scholarship

    The Thomas J. Butler Memorial Scholarship assists one student graduating from Forest City Regional High School furthering their college education. Tom Butler was a pillar in the Forest City community. He was a man that would help another out in their time of need and not ask for anything in return. It is our hope that this scholarship in the amount of $500 will help a deserving student begin their college education.

    The Jordan Underwood Memorial Scholarship

    Requirements:    Enrollment in a two (2) or four (4) year college campus

                                 Program majoring in Sports Communication or

                                 Health/Medical Field.

                                 GPA – 88 or Higher

                                 Two (2) paragraph essay stating:

    “Why you feel you should receive Jordan’s scholarship?”


    The Sam Rowe Memorial Scholarship

    Two $500.00 scholarships, sponsored by Sam’s family, will be awarded in memory of Sam Rowe III to students who intend to pursue a career in a medical field.   The scholarships are intended for students who have a commitment to a medical career and will not be awarded solely on academic record.  The application below and the required attachments are to be submitted to the Counseling Office no later than Wednesday, May 14, 2025.  All applications with attachments will be forwarded to a committee selected by the sponsors.  The decision of the committee is final.


    The Joe Nebzydoski Memorial Scholarship

    A senior student that has donated a minimum of 30 hours of voluntary community service to either his/her school, fire department, ambulance, church, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, etc. or other non-profit agency outside of the school day and NOT part of another project (graduation project, Eagle Scout project, 4-H project, etc.).

    It is recommended that the scholarship applicant be enrolled in a college or trade school after graduation, but it is not a requirement. The applicant should have an idea of their contributing role to society after graduation.


    The Wayne County Business & Professional Women's Scholarship

    The Nancy Rucker Wallis Scholarship

    The Nancy Rucker Wallis Memorial scholarship has been established to honor the memory of Nancy Wallis -- wife, mother, and nurse whose empathy and compassion led her to help those in her local community and beyond.

    *The applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the scholarship committee who will determine which application(s) are most deserving of a scholarship award
