FOREST CITY REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

FCRSD Technology

The network at the Forest City Regional School District contains a mixture of fiber optics and copper medium that support speeds of 10/100/1000 MBPS. The core of the network is based upon an Extreme Networks router, offering fiber optic speeds to centrally located switches. The network also contains an Extreme Networks wireless network system throughout the campus.

The District offers email accounts for all employees and students which can easily be accessed through any web browser. Each network user is able to utilize Google Apps maintain records and files for school related work and activities. The network also provides means to work collaboratively for groups of students, faculty, staff, and administration.

To maintain CIPA (Children Internet Protection Act) compliance, Content Filtering is used for all points of Internet access. Maintaining compliance is important for our ERATE reimbursement which subsidies our cost of telephone, cell phone, web hosting, and Internet Access.  We use Lightspeed Systems for our Content Filter, delivering safe and secure content from both inside the building, and on students computers at home.

All user and database data is protected by network administered anti-virus software, hardware RAID technology, various firewall and filtering solutions, and a daily redundant backup.
