Healthy Classroom Ideas for Wellness

Classroom celebrations have long been a tradition of cupcakes, cookies, chips, and/or candy.  These special occasions can fit school Wellness Policies by including healthy choices. Fresh fruit and vegetable trays w/low-fat dip, whole grain cookies and crackers, and baked chips are healthy additions to these festivities.  The continuous presentation of healthy foods during classroom celebrations give students the opportunity to make healthy food choices and ultimately acquire good eating habits. 

Healthy food choices:
     Vegetable Tray w/Low-fat Ranch Dressing
     *Ham or Turkey & Cheese Pinwheels
      Baked Tortillas w/ Salsa
     *Trail Mix
      Whole Grain Crackers w/Cheese Cubes
     *Fresh Fruit w/Yogurt Dip
     *Fruit & Cheese Kabobs
       Pretzels, Baked Chips, Low-fat Popcorn

To Drink:
      100% Fruit Juice
      Low-fat/Fat Free Milk
      Water
      Sparkling Punch (just add seltzer water to 100% fruit juice)
