Parent Information for New Students

Welcome to Forest City Regional School District!

Forest City Regional’s cafeteria meal programs operate on a “point of sales” system. Meal accounts are to be pre-paid on a weekly or monthly basis to your child’s homeroom teacher.  Please send a check, payable to Forest City Regional, or cash in an envelope marked with your child’s full name and grade or teacher’s name on it.  Please note that children, grades kindergarten through fourth, have the option of purchasing snack milk.  Please keep in mind that parents/guardians are responsible for prepayment of snack milk even if the child receives free meals.

Breakfast is free for all elementary students.  The cost of a full-paid breakfast in high school is $1.25, while reduced is $0.30. A full-paid elementary lunch is $2.00, reduced is $0.40, and snack milk is $0.50.  A full-paid high school lunch is $2.25 with reduced being $0.40.

Alternates are also available to high school students.  They include special grab-n-go meals, a soup bar, salad bar, and deli line.  All high school students, including students on the free/reduced meal plan, can select one of these alternate options as their meal choice.  There are a variety of nutritious snacks and drinks also offered to the students in the a la carte area, but lunch accounts must have a positive balance before snacks can be purchased.

All students grade five through twelve, with a positive balance, are allowed to purchase “extras” ranging from $0.25 to $2.25 depending on the item.

If you are interested in checking your child’s balance online, you may do so by signing up for a cafeteria web account.  This will allow you to see your child’s balance, make payments, and setup an e-mail alert for when your child goes below a certain balance.  To sign up for the account go to schoolcafe.com and follow the instructions to register.  If you do not have internet access, you can always call the cafeteria office at (570) 785-2412 and we will gladly look up the balance for you.

Please look for a Free/Reduced Meal Application in your new student packet. Fill out the application and submit it to the cafeteria or business office as soon as possible.  For questions or help filling out the application please call the cafeteria office (785-2412) or the business office (785-2422).
